In June the European Commission has presented the New Skills Agenda for Europe. The aim of this agenda is to address the existing skills gap and skills mismatches in Europe and thus contribute to the competitiveness of Europe in the global world economy. The agenda stresses the importance of digital and transversal skills and competences, and the importance of basic competences like literacy, critical thinking, and language skills. For the planned actions in the next 2 years the Commission has prioritized the following three points: Improving the quality and relevance of skills formation; Making skills and qualifications more visible and comparable; Improving skills intelligence and information for better career choice
