IO1: Igma3 methodology for professionals [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

Methodology is for effective career counselling and job placement of young adults through centralised approach and coordinated integration measures on the stakeholder level. The methodology will be based on the concept of the existing igma methodology adapted to the needs of young adults and enriched with successful job placement strategies. After the research in close cooperation with stakeholder networks in all partner countries the existing methodology will be revised and adapted to work with the group young adults. Two new elements will be included, namely job placement strategies and strategies for involvement of employers. Some modules will be re-written and some removed.

The methodology will be written in a form of guidelines  with focus on practical implementation by the practitioners in the network. It will be available as e-book in order to decrease the costs for dissemination and further exploitation.

Preliminary the methodology will include the following parts:

  1. Introduction on counselling of young adults as a specific target group.
  2. Profile of the provision network organisations and professionals at those organisations working with counselling and employment of young adults (according to the case-management concept).
  3. Guidelines for stakeholder cooperation strategies as practical steps in order to improve the counselling and guidelines services for young adults.
  4. Progress management and quality assurance management for the networks to monitor their cooperation. Division of roles and responsibilities. Reporting in the network.
  5. Job placement strategies with individual needs in the centre and with consideration of the resources / possibilities of the networks.
  6. Strategies for employers´ involvement in the counselling processes as well as in network cooperation for improvement of employment opportunities for young adults.

This e-book is a necessary part of training and structural changes  for more efficient counselling and integration of young adults to the labour market through coordination approach. The targeted readers are:

a) Professionals/ counsellors/ trainers at different organisations involved with counselling, employment, education and training of young adults. The big focus will be on involvement of employers and strategies of “selling” the skills and competences to local/regional employers in a more efficient way.

b) Decision-makers interested in improvement of services for increased employment of young adults and increased cooperation between adult education, counselling and labour market.

c) Decision-makers working with issues of adult education, employment at policy level.

Igma1 methodology was mainly aimed at professionals directly working with integration of immigrants. The practice shows that it is a great demand on decision-making level to include the policy (strategic) level in the guidelines apart from the practical implementation guidelines.

IO2:  Igma 3 training curricula for regional stakeholder networks [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

Igma3 training curricula will be developed in a form of a distance course though Moodle open source. The structure of the course will be modular with 8 to 10 modules, where the most of the training will be carried out at distance. However, at least 2 training sessions will be carried out in-class at the beginning and at the end of the training course. One more in-class training session is recommended in the middle of the course, but this needs to be decided by each stakeholder network.

The Moodle platform will include:

  1. Goals and expected outcomes of each module
  2. Exercises and tasks to the participants
  3. Hand-outs and reading instructions
  4. Chat or communication area between the trainees and the trainer

The main target group of this platform and curricula is professionals at stakeholder networks. The trainers will lead training at distance. The purpose of the first in-class training is to foster the communication between the participants, to get to know each other and to introduce igma concept, to work in groups. The purpose of the final in-class training is presentation of the examination project the participants will carry out.

The content of the curricula will depend on the content of methodology and will be decided by the partnership in close cooperation with regional stakeholder networks.

The innovation of such a course is that it is aimed at training of stakeholder networks rather than individual counsellors/ case managers. The result is the acquired knowledge can be directly implemented in practice as the trainees will get concrete tasks for gradual integration of igma concept into their daily work in-between training sessions. Each group of participant will be balanced and include public organisations working with employments, private employers, employers associations, adult education providers, counselling services, etc. The structure of each group will depend on the existing regulation and situation in each partner country.

The current igma training is available only in paper form and it needs to be revised/adapted according to the needs of the young adults, regulations for adult education/counselling and employment of this specific target group and also resources stakeholder networks.

IO3: National survey of existing counselling services available for young adults and the role of different regional/local stakeholder organisation in the guidance process [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

During the project implementation and development of methodology and curricula each partner organisation will do a mapping of the existing services available in the local/regional levels in accordance to national legislation and regulation in each partner country. In order to ensure further dissemination and exploitation of igma concept to other regions it is important to develop an example map of services for each partner country. It will be a good starting point for next networks as there are only slight differences between different regions in the same country. Moreover the survey will include the explanation of the map and a short summary of recommendations for integration of igma concept at policy and practical level in each partner country.

As this survey is country specific each partner organisation will be responsible for their survey. The activity leading organisation will provide the network with a common template and instructions for filling in in order to ensure comparability of the final products.

The main target group of this product is decision-makers and practitioners interested in implementation of igma concept in their region. The difference between O1 and O3 is that O1 is an extensive methodology generally describing the way of implementation of igma in any EU country. O3 is a short marketing paper for giving overview of country specific networks, regulations, available services and recommendations. O3 will be available towards the end of the project in order to embrace the project experiences in each partner country.

Each survey will be available only in the national language of the partner organisation and not in English as it is country specific information (Swedish survey – only in Swedish, Dutch only in Dutch, etc.)

IO4: Booklet with marketing information for employers [read more=”Read more” less=”Read less”]

Employers are one of the main target groups of the project and they are also the most challenging group to involve.  Therefore, the partnership will develop a special booklet on igma with focus on ways of cooperation with other stakeholders regarding employment of the young adults. The booklet will also include advantages and best practices  for employment of young adults as selling arguments for employers. This booklet will be a part of a strategy for working with employers attitudes.
